The Beautiful Brain Podcast explores the latest findings from the ever-growing field of neuroscience, with particular attention to the dialogue between the arts and sciences. In this monthly program, host Noah Hutton reports on news from the world of brain science, interviews important thinkers about their work, and reviews new literature in the field. The show illuminates important new questions about creativity, the mind of the artist, and the mind of the observer that modern neuroscience is helping us to answer, or at least to provide part of an answer. Instances where art seeks to answer questions of a traditionally scientific nature are also of great interest, and for that reason you will hear from artists as well as scientists on The Beautiful Brain. Subscribe today to receive a brand new episode each month.

I'm compelled to draw a correlation between the increased brain activity and what I believe to be the inevitable improvement in performance by the so-called "inferior" participant.
We see it in recreational sports, watching professionals play before hitting the tennis courts or the golf course seems to increase our chances of success. Playing against someone who is more experienced or skilled than ourselves activates our competitive nature, whether we are attempting to prevail over our opponent or our preconceived limitations.
Whether in regard to business, sports or entertainment, working alongside our "superiors" appears to be the fast track to success.
That said, I guess I gaze at others shoes quite a bit, thankful that I will never run out of things to learn.

Fantastic post! Whenever I hear people saying "I don't care what others think of me," I quickly sum them up as either dishonest or majorly bereft of self-awareness. We all clearly do care. And it dictates a phenomenal amount of our behaviours throughout everyday life.
